Lin Tan is a competent Registered Psychologist who works extensively with adolescents, adults, couples and families. She is registered with Psychology Board of Australia and is a member of Australian Psychological Society. Upon graduated from Master of Applied Psychology in Australia over a decade ago, Lin started her journey in working collaboratively with people in coaching, counselling and psychotherapy. This sets a strong foundation for Lin to work with directly vulnerable clients in bringing out their strengths and values. She has experience in working directly with private patients, couples and underprivileged people from all walks of life, including migrants and Aboriginal Australians, both in face-to-face consultation and via Telehealth.
Lin is passionate about working with clients to relieve their psychological distress and maximise their potential through healthy thinking, feelings and behaviour. She values empathy, openness and non-judgmental approach in exploring issues that are important to clients’ personal growth and development. Her key goal is to help individuals, couples and families to see growth opportunities through life crisis and turning them into their personal strengths. Lin considers this a truly rewarding experience to be a part of a change journey with her clients and see them grow to become resilient individuals!
Lin structures her therapy approach according to her clients’ needs and therapeutic goals. She works primarily within a strength-based model with a range of techniques derived from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Trauma Focused Therapy. Lin is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EDMR) that enables her to work effectively with Complex PTSD individuals. As part of these processes, Lin helps her clients to gain a better understanding about their needs and prioritise effective ways of responding to their life challenges. She often works with clients who are experiencing a range of mental health issues to achieve a positive outcome for them.
