Associate Professor Justin Roe is a highly experienced surgeon performing more than 400 knee procedures each year. He has a special interest in ACL reconstruction and procedures for osteoarthritis of the knee. He treats a large number of professional athletes, returning them to elite function after injury. In addition he is highly involved in clinical research into outcomes of knee surgery and with numerous publications and was awarded the prestigious 2013 Scientific Award at the ISAKOS congress in Toronto. He was appointed as a Conjoint Associate Professor in the St Vincent’s Clinical School of the University of New South Wales in 2014.
Dr Justin Roe graduated from the University of New South Wales with Honours in 1993. Prior to completing his medical training he was an elite Equestrian rider competing as a member of the long listed Olympic Team for the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
Dr Roe completed his orthopaedic training in 2001 and then in 2002 completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine at the Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic, London Ontario, Canada. He then completed a Hip and Knee Travelling Fellowship in Europe, visiting Lyon (France), Florence and Milan (Italy) and Brugge and Leuven (Belgium).
On returning to Australia in 2003, Dr Roe spent 6 months as a clinical fellow and 7 months as Locum Orthopaedic Surgeon for Dr Leo Pinczewski, co-founder of NSOSMC. He joined NSOSMC in 2004, bringing the latest innovations and experience in knee surgery from North America and Europe.
