Maria completed her optometry degree at City University in London in 2011, and worked for a while as an optometrist in England. She moved to Australia with her family in 2014, and has lived in Noosa since 2018. Maria is Swedish, and her partner is South African, so there is some disagreement about whether the summer temperature here in Noosa is too hot, or just right! Maria and her family love the outdoor lifestyle here, and they all feel very lucky to be able to live and work in this beautiful area. Maria has been part of the Options Eyecare team since 2018, and really enjoys looking after the lovely patients who come here.

Louise is the newest member of the Options Eyecare team – starting in the role of Principal Optometrist in May 2024. Louise grew up in Brisbane and completed a science/business degree at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in 2008, graduating with first-class honours and a university medal. She later returned to university to complete a Masters of Optometry degree at QUT in 2016, graduating with distinction and a university medal, as well as several awards for clinical performance. She has worked at several independent optometry practices in Brisbane, and has recently returned from a two-year role at a practice near Queenstown, New Zealand. Louise has worked as a clinical supervisor at the QUT Optometry Clinic, and has also served on the Optometry Australia QLD/NT board and the Cornea & Contact Lens Society of Australia QLD board. Louise has particular interests in contact lenses (including ortho-k), myopia control, dry eyes, paediatrics and binocular vision. She prides herself on providing a calm environment for her patients, getting to know them (not just their eyes), and taking the time to explain the information they might need in a clear and easy-to-understand manner. Louise enjoys seeing children for their eye tests, and tries to make their eye test as fun (and not scary!) as possible. Louise is therapeutically qualified and can prescribe ocular medications for conditions such as glaucoma and eye infections. Louise has fond memories of family holidays in the 90s at Mooloolaba and Maroochydore, and loves being able to now call the Sunshine Coast home. When not at work, Louise enjoys hiking, kayaking, baking, and spending time with her husband Matt (also an optometrist) and their mini-Groodle at the beach.

Bernadette is a Noosa Shire local. She graduated from QUT with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Optometry) with First Class Honours in 2007. She completed further study with a Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics in 2013 through the University of New South Wales, which allows her to prescribe ocular medications for conditions such as glaucoma and eye infections. Having worked at Options Eyecare since 2008, Bernadette particularly enjoys being able to provide ongoing long-term care for her patients, and having the time to plan individualised and comprehensive management plans. She has a particular interest in low vision cases and dry eye treatment. A career highlight was helping provide eyecare as part of the AHHA charity mission to Cambodia in 2015 and 2016. Outside of optometry Bernadette enjoys reading, horse riding and exploring the Sunshine Coast with her husband and two boys.
