Dr Emma Ivens graduated from Monash University in 1997 with first class honours and completed her physician and cardiology training at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. Dr Ivens has also completed a post graduate echocardiography fellowship at the Prince Charles Hospital, University of Queensland, followed by a further year of specialized training in advanced echocardiology at St Paul’s Hospital, University of British Columbia, Vancouver Canada. On her return to Australia in 2007, she joined Queensland Cardiology at the Holy Spirit Northside Hospital in Brisbane and is also employed as a VMO specialist at the Prince Charles Hospital. She is widely published in the areas of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, complex aortic pathology, pericardial disease and procedural echocardiology including ASD/PFO device closure and in the emerging area of percutaneous heart valves. Dr Ivens is actively involved in cardiac research and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. She is available for all types of cardiology consultations, stress testing, stress echocardiography, transthoracic echocardiography and transoesophageal echocardiography.

Dr Roderick Chua

Dr Roderick Chua is an Interventional Cardiologist and Heart Failure Specialist. He is a director of Queensland Cardiology and Fellow of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. Dr Chua performs the full range of coronary interventional procedures and has special interests in renal artery denervation and CT coronary angiography. His coronary interventions are mostly done via radial artery access. He has admitting and procedural rights at the Holy Spirit Northside Hospital and St Andrew’s War Memorial hospital. He consults regularly at Queensland Cardiology, Holy Spirit Northside Medical Centre, The Specialist Suites at the North Lakes Montserrat Day Hospital, North Lakes and at Northside Cardiology Services, Peninsula Private Specialists Centre, Kippa Ring. He is regularly on-call for general cardiology admissions and for the primary angioplasty and acute chest pain services at both hospitals. Dr Chua graduated from the University of Sydney and completed his basic physician’s training at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. He became a fellow to the Heart/Lung Transplant Unit at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney in 2003 and was involved closely with the management of end-stage heart failure patients, transplantation medicine and post-cardiac transplant care. He completed his interventional fellowship at the very busy cardiology unit of the Westmead Hospital, Sydney in 2004. In 2005, Dr Chua was appointed as a staff specialist cardiologist at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney and set up practice at the Sydney Adventist, Baulkham Hills Private and Mater Hospitals in Sydney. He arrived at the Prince Charles Hospital in 2006 and joined Queensland Cardiology in the same year. He is fully trained as a Level A CT Coronary Angiogram specialist and reports CT coronary angiogram studies performed at the Queensland Diagnostic Imaging radiology department in the Holy Spirit Northside Hospital. He performs both exercise and Dobutamine stress echocardiograms regularly at Queensland Cardiology. He is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.
